Testicular Cancer

Testicular cancer is cancer of the testicles. Thes testicles, or testes, are the reproductive organs of the male that produce both sperm and male sex hormones such as testosterone. They reside in the scrotum.

These types of cancer are relatively common, particularly in younger men. In particular, cancer of thes testicles are the most common type of cancer in males between adolescent years and about 35 years of age.

Most cancers of the testicles arise from cells known as germ cells, the cells that give rise to the gametes, the cells that are responsible for fertilization and reproduction. In males these are the cells that give rise to sperm. However, not all cancers in the area of the testicle are the same, there are a number of different possible types of testicular tumors that can occur, some of which are malignant (cancerous) and some of which tend to be more benign.
