Pancreatic Cancer

Pancreatic cancer is a relatively common form of cancer that has a very high mortality rate and therefore is a very important public health concern in this and other countries. While it may be treatable if caught early, it is typically not diagnosed until late when the cancer is quite advanced, leading to the generally poor prognosis even with treatment.

The cancer is a malignant tumor arising from the pancreas gland in the upper abdomen. Because it arises from a gland, it is sometimes referred to as an exocrine tumor.
